TikTok You Don’t Stop

So how many of you are on TikTok? I was and sometimes threw some short videos of my paintings, but nothing major.

That was before BookTok BookTok is a wildly successful way to get your book out there. I’ve found so many books that I like that I decided to go down the rabbit hole and see if TikTok might just work for me and my Snow Globe Cafe series. Guess what? It does!

I’m in the middle of a series going through my thinking while writing the book, so if you are on TikTok check it out, and don’t forget to follow me!

Leaving Home: Snow Globe Café Book Three

It’s finally here! Leaving Home is now up on Amazon and is available for Kindle Unlimited, Ebook, and paperback! Click here to purchase!

You all have been so patient with me, and those that follow me on Facebook know I’ve had quite a time getting this one done due to health problems and my work situation with the pandemic. I’m so grateful to each and every one of you that waited patiently for me to get this book out.

I’ve been asked a few times, and yes book four is in the works! I promise you won’t have to wait nearly as long. In fact, I’m shooting for January as it is all about Valentine’s Day!

Lucky Me

Hello my friends! I have an update for you on Leaving Home, Book 3 of the Snow Globe Café Series. It is officially at the editor! Now it goes through a couple rounds of editing, but I am really hoping to get this baby out by the end of August. If everything goes my way it’s doable, and I’m going to try my best because I know you all have waited for so long!

Now if you don’t want to wait until the end of August I do have a little tidbit for you. It’s my new Kindle Vella story! I’ve actually had this one plotted/mostly written for a long time, but it just didn’t seem like it would fit a book. Vella tells stories in short episodes, so I decided to try it out there.

It’s called Lucky Me. You can even follow the story to get updates on new episodes. The first three episodes are free, but the nice thing is since it’s so new right now they are giving everyone 200 free tokens to use.

It’s really fun and I’m digging some of the stories I’ve read so far. If you do check my story out, don’t forget to like it after each episode (thumb at the bottom) and follow. If you really love me, leave a review too 🙂

Thank you all again for all your support. I was late in life making this little dream of mine come true and you all are a part of it!

What If

The most frequent question I am asked from fans of my book series (besides when will book 3 be out) is how do you come up with the idea for a book? How a brain comes up with people, places, and a story seems to fascinate my fellow humans.

I work with a guy who asked me, “How did you write a book?  Is it about you?”

“No,” I told him.  “It’s fiction, something I made up.”

“So you just made all that stuff up in your head?” he asked incredulously as I nodded.  “You’re weird.”

Well yes, I suppose I am weird but that’s beside the point.  I guess I never thought about the fact that other people don’t find their self in a situation and think what if….

That’s how a book starts, well for me anyway.  Sometimes it’s a person, or a building, or a situation I find myself in that start the wheels turning.

For my current series I think it started a long time ago.  There is a building in the town next to mine that has this  huge round window that used to be a bank.  As a lover of all things snow globe, I thought what if that building was a bakery, and had a big snow globe window celebrating the seasons?

I wrote “Snow Globe Cafe” in one of my notebooks over fifteen years ago.  That’s right, fifteen years.  I didn’t have a story to go with it for a long time, but it was filed in that notebook and my brain until the right story came along.

So what if that cafe was in a small holiday obsessed town.  Who would own it?  What would be it’s history?  The first book in the series went through a few versions before the current one was published.

Becca wasn’t even in the first rough draft.  Seriously.  The first book was going to be all about her daughter Sugar.  As I wrote it something seemed off.  I wanted to tell Becca and Eric’s story, and I didn’t like the backstory I had for Sugar.

All you Becca fans probably wouldn’t like her fate in the first version.  The second version was better, but she was almost completely off page.  Just like Goldilocks, the third version felt just right.

So many people see interested in how a book forms in someone’s mind I decided that while you all wait for the third installment of the Snow Globe Cafe (I’m hoping to get it out this spring), I thought I might do a little series here about how I actually came up with everything, and why I changed certain things.

Be sure to follow this blog if that’s something that would interest you!

Until next time, happy reading!
